The True Role of a School Psychologist

A psychologist's responsibility is not to create divisions, take sides, or manipulate outcomes. Their role is to understand, mediate, and support all parties involved while keeping the child's best interests at the center of every decision.

An ethical psychologist strives to:

  • Remain as objective as possible.
  • Listen to all perspectives.
  • Encourage healthy communication.
  • Reduce conflict rather than intensify it.
  • Protect the emotional and psychological well-being of children.

When these principles are abandoned, psychology can become a tool of influence rather than a profession of care.

Influence and Vulnerability

Children naturally place trust in adults who hold authority. A psychologist's words often carry significant weight because children assume that the psychologist understands them better than they understand themselves.

This influence creates a profound ethical responsibility.

An unethical psychologist may consciously or unconsciously begin shaping narratives rather than exploring facts. Instead of helping children express their genuine thoughts and feelings, they may guide conversations toward predetermined conclusions.

Such practices can include:

  • Leading questions designed to obtain specific answers.
  • Selective interpretation of a child's statements.
  • Ignoring evidence that contradicts personal assumptions.
  • Encouraging loyalty to one perspective while dismissing others.
  • Creating dependence on the psychologist's approval.

When this occurs, the psychologist ceases to be a facilitator of understanding and becomes an architect of perception.

The Bolivian Salt Hotel

In 1993 , Romania demara o ampla campanie de punere in valoare a cetatilor dacice de la Gradistea . Un studiu multidisciplinar efectuat la fata locului a pus in evidenta faptul ca sub ceea ce este acum decopertat exista un urias ansamblu arhitectonic , un ansamblu militaro – civil compact, cu mai multe nuclee , intins pe o suprafata de peste 200 de kilometri patrati.
